Allez chercher votre passeport ou votre carte d’identité et signez vous aussi ! Ce serait dommage d’échouer en étant aussi près de l’objectif (860.000 signatures obtenues sur un million nécessaires). Et transmettez ce message autour de vous.

Intergroup for Traditional Minorities, National Communities and Languages
Dear Colleagues,
Welcome to the next meeting of the Intergroup that will take place Thursday, 15th March at 10:00-12:00 in LOW R3.1.
First of all, we wanted to let you know that we have good news about the Minority Safepack Initiative. We already have 840.000 signatures! We need 140.000 more and, in spite of having only three weeks left, we think we can make it if we all make a last effort to collect the remaining signatures. Therefore we would like to encourage you to write a post for the social media you use, asking your followers to sign the initiative and share the post. In order to make it easier for everyone we provide you with a text that you can use if you wish and, of course, tailor and/or translate into your language.
The finish line is near. We’re getting close, we already have 840.000 signatures but we need 1.000.000 and only have 3 weeks left. The stakes are high and it’s all up to you: this opportunity will not come back again! Please sign down below and share! We call upon the EU to adopt a set of legal acts to improve the protection of persons belonging to national and linguistic minorities and strengthen cultural and linguistic diversity in the Union. It shall include policy actions in the areas of regional and minority languages, education and culture, regional policy, participation, equality, audio visual and other media content, and also regional (state) support. http://www.minority-safepack. eu/#about
On the other hand, on the agenda for the meeting on Thursday we have the COMBI project: teaching minority languages to migrants in the healthcare sector.
A study carried out in the COMBI project has shown that there is no systematic teaching of minority languages in territories where two languages are needed in elderly care or healthcare services. This is the case despite a significant number of minority language speakers being users of these services. In most European countries, many workers in the elderly care sector are migrants. The aim of the COMBI project is to create innovative teaching methods for teaching minority languages in this sector. Nevertheless these methods will not be effective without political guidelines that take into consideration the training and provision of a service in the language of the user. It is therefore noted that many training programmes for unemployed and/or migrant workers are funded by the European Social Fund. Together with you, we would like to put forth the question concerning political recommendations and guidelines regarding the need of minority language teaching integrated in vocational workplace training.
The presentation will be attended by two representatives of the COMBI project, Petra Elser (Banaiz Bagara association, Basque Country) and Dr Gwennan Higham (Swansea University, Wales)
Interpretation will be provided in EN, ES, HU and PL.
